Meet Karen Stevens
Karen Stevens, pictured left, is a physiotherapist and founder of On Balance Physio. She qualified as a physiotherapist in 2002 at the University of Brighton. Since then she has practised in London, New Zealand and Sheffield.
“I have worked with people in hospital, at their homes and in their workplaces”, she says. “I specialise in neurological and balance disorders, and have a wealth of experience in helping people to manage long term conditions. I love working with people to achieve the best physical outcome, whatever the diagnosis and circumstances.”
“The rehab journey can be short or long, smooth or complex, frustrating and joyful. Everyday activities, that were once so easily completed, now need energy and determination. It is extremely satisfying to help people move forwards, and successfully fulfil their goals.”
Karen has attended many post graduate courses and conferences and has up to date specialist skills in neurological and vestibular rehabilitation. She is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and special interest groups for brain and balance conditions.
“I am passionate about physiotherapy, and driven to provide evidence based interventions,” says Karen.
What clients say:
“Karen is very professional and supportive. She helped me tremendously to cope with my problem through exercise and I greatly appreciated all her efforts.”
“She’s been amazing and her hard work and support is most appreciated.”
“Karen is extremely professional and was conscious and considerate of my husband’s needs (he has Parkinson’s). She encouraged him to practice his exercises and arranged complementary speech therapy. He was initially suspicious of physio, but thought she was very good. He has had positive ongoing results.”
What colleagues say:
“Karen demonstrates a warmth that is recognised by patients and their families. She is approachable and respectful and this is evident in patients’ responses to her.”
